The meeting was called to order at 4:00 pm with Jerry Stocks presiding for Stuart Heath.

New member Nimmie Huber was introduced.

Ann Helm, guest of Rebecca Davenport, was acknowledged.

The roll was called and those present answered with the title of their favorite magazine.

The minutes of the February 14th meeting were approved.

There was a discussion regarding the program for the April 11th meeting. Since the person scheduled to present that day cannot present, several alternative suggestions were made, one being to repeat a previous presentation and another to have a guided tour of the USCB campus with Andrea and Geni acting as hosts. After a vote, it was decided to go with the campus tour. It is suggested that members wear comfortable shoes next meeting as we will be walking a little from building to building.

Rebecca Davenport gave her informative and entertaining presentation on Sideshows. There was a question and answer period immediately following. Information was shared with the members regarding Rebecca’s upcoming shows. A link to that website was sent out via e-mail to the group on 3/15/17.

An announcement was made about Martha’s new book, Tidewater Hit, being released soon.

The meeting adjourned at approximately 5:00.

The next regular meeting of the Sage Society will be held on Tuesday, April 11th  at 4:00 pm in the OLLI classroom (room 124 of the USCB Sandstone building.)

·       Our next Sage Society meeting is on Tuesday, April 11 at 4:00 in Room 124 of the Sandstone Building (the OLLI Room) at USCB.  Come early to socialize!

·       At this meeting, we will hear about the OLLI program from Andrea and then Geni will take us on a walking tour of select parts of the USCB Campus. (Wear comfortable walking shoes.)    ***Geni’s tour will prepare us for her paper in May on “The History of Beaufort College.”

·       Rebecca Davenport, please give Geni a paragraph synopsis of your presentation about Sideshows.  She will add the synopsis to the archives and send a copy to Larry to include in the Blog. (If you have already done this---thanks! Thanks!)

·       Everyone: Please turn in a synopsis of your paper to Geni (Secretary/ Historian) when you present your paper. This routine will ensure that all presentations are archived so that in the future we can look back and see “if and when” a topic has been addressed.
·       I am including a list of the topics that have been presented and those that are scheduled so far. You can go: THESAGESOCIETY.BLOGSPOT.COM   to see what has been posted about each presentation.  ***I will probably update the listing and include in each newsletter.  (There will always be changes.)

·       Carol Lauvray:    May I sign you up to present in November 2018? Let me know. Thanks!

·       Guests are welcome. We ask that you invite the same guest only twice in the presentation year (February-December). Please notify the President and secretary so that we can welcome your guests.

·       You can nominate someone for membership at any time. Turn any nominations in to the secretary, Geni Flowers. We will solicit brief biographies of potential new members in November. All potential new members will be put on a waiting list and voted on at the annual meeting in January. The top “vote getters” will fill the open spots. The others will remain on the waiting list.

We have three openings now. Filling those vacancies will bring us up to our “total” of 21 members.

·       I will attach three attachments with this communication:

1.     March   minutes. Please read and send any corrections to Geni, our Secretary. We will approve the minutes each meeting before our speaker is presented.
