Copperheads -- Diane Gallagher

On 11/14/2017, Diane Gallagher presented concerning the Civil War 'Copperheads':
The Yankees considered Copperheads snakes, poisonous snakes. These Copperheads are the two-legged kind. They were the "fifth column" that infested the southwest Ohio Valley and southern Indiana.
They were the Southern sympathizers that bedeviled Abe Lincoln and Secretary of War Stanton. These are very human and personal tales of the gallantry of John Hunt Morgan, the espionage and coolheadedness of the Moon sisters, the deceit and betrayal by Major George Rue, the trust of the Ursuline nuns, and the kindness and forgiveness shown by General Ambrose Burnside.
Come learn some hidden history of the Civil War. Not only was the country divided,  but individual counties too. All of this action occurred North of the Mason Dixie Line. Why had you not heard of this before? The winners write the history.

 2.  We will change the By-Laws to state:  two -year terms for the officers.
 3.  We will vote on new members.

·       At our  Tuesday meeting, Diane Gallagher will give her presentation on Copperheads. Copperheads are Northerners who were Southern sympathizers during the Civil War. This will be an interesting presentation. Can’t wait!

*Diane, please remember to give Geni a brief paragraph for the archives. She will share with Larry so that he can post on the Blog.

·       Everyone: Give Geni Flowers Bouquet, Secretary, names of potential new members at the November meeting and up to the end of December. Include a brief biographical paragraph.

1.    I will share these names and bios 10 days before the January meeting.
2.    You are encouraged to invite your potential new members to one or two meetings.
3.    Let the Secretary and President know who you will bring as a guest. Geni will prepare a name tag for them.
