Stuart Heath called the meeting to order at 4:00 pm.

Special guests: Alvesta Robertson, MaryAnn Mikell and Peg Marty were acknowledged.

The minutes of the October 9th meeting were approved with corrections.
Stuart asked for donations or recommendations for books by local authors to be included in her
basket for the Library Federation Luncheon to be held March 6, 2019.

Carla Marsh shared with us a most informative presentation on the Port Royal Sound Ecology.
We learned some very interesting facts that I think many of us did not know (like 17 of the 32
shark species are found right here in the Port Royal Sound!). Brochures and handouts on the Port
Royal Sound Foundation and Maritime Center were available for attendees. A brief question and
answer period followed the presentation.

There was a reminder that bios for prospective members are due to Geni by December 26th. We
will vote on new members in January.

The meeting adjourned at 4:55.

The next regular meeting of the Sage Society will be held on Tuesday, January 8th at 4:00 pm in

Newsletter -- November, 2018

The Sage Society November Newsletter

·       Our next Sage Society meeting is on Tuesday, November 13 at 4:00 in Room 124 of the Sandstone Building (the OLLI Room) at USCB.  Come early to socialize!
·       We do not meet in December.   Jen Moneagle will present on February 12, 2019.
·       After Christmas, our next meeting will be on January 8 when we have our Annual Meeting.  At that meeting we will:

 1.  We will determine where we will donate our dues collected for 2019.
 2.  We will vote on our slate of officers:
ü President: Martha Weeks
ü Secretary/ Treasurer/Historian: Geni Flowers Bouquet
 3.  We will vote on new members.
·
At our November meeting on Tuesday, Carla Marsh will give her presentation on Port Royal Sound.  Can’t wait!

·       Everyone: Give Geni Flowers Bouquet, Secretary, names of potential new members at the November meeting and up to the end of December. Include a brief biographical paragraph.

1.    I will share these names and bios 10 days before the January meeting.
2.    You are encouraged to invite your potential new members to one or two meetings.
3.    Let the Secretary and President know who you will bring as a guest. Geni will prepare a name tag for them.
4.    All potential new members will be put on a waiting list and voted on at the annual meeting in January. The top “vote getters” will fill the open spots. The others will remain on the waiting list.
5.    We have four openings now. Filling those vacancies will bring us up to our “total” of 21 members.

·       I will share the October minutes before the meeting.  Geni is on vacation and we can share the minutes when she returns.
