Stuart Heath -- The Beaufort National Cemetery

The Beaufort National Cemetery is one of six national cemeteries established in 1863 by President Lincoln for the re-interment of Union soldiers and sailors who died in the region.

The presentation, on September 10, 2019, highlighted the following topics to tell the story of the Beaufort National Cemetery. It was an updated encore presention by Stuart Heath, and originally presented by her at Sage on November 8, 2016.

Beaufort National Cemetery has more than 7,500 Civil War casualties-- both Union and Confederate-4,019 are unknown.
