· I
am sending you a “Save the Date” for the Beaufort History Museum May 7, 2019
tea at Dataw. I hope that we can get a table or two of Sage Members to support
the museum and enjoy being together. The Theme this year is: Pearls of
Wisdom.”
· Here
is the Annual Meeting Agenda so that you can be prepared to discuss the items
listed.
Annual Meeting
1.
Collect Dues
a) The membership will pay dues of $25 in CASH at the
annual meeting. These dues will be dispersed to Thumbs UP, the organization
that was selected by the membership. Stuart
Heath will deliver the funds collected to the organization within a week after
our meeting. Currently we have 18 members. $450 will be donated from Sage
Society to Thumbs Up this year.
2.
Nomination
and election of new members.
Members
had until the end of December to nominate potential new members.
We
have 4 openings. We have four nominees. (That
will bring the membership up to a total of 21 members. Currently our “cap” is Twenty-One (21.)
The
following have been nominated:
ü Debbie
Gray….Geni Flowers
ü Alvesta
Robinson…..Jerry Stocks
ü Mary
Ann Mickell……Jerry Stocks /Stuart Heath
ü Peggy
Picket…..Jerry Stocks
·
If you have an objection to any of the
nominees, please contact Stuart
or Geni.(President and Secretary)
·
We will vote by secret
ballot. The By-laws state that two negative votes will remove the nominee from
consideration as a member.
·
The prospective new
members with the highest number of votes will fill the corresponding vacant
slots. Those not elected to membership can be put on a waiting list and may be
nominated again.
***I am just stating the procedure so that we
get used to what our By-laws state. We have four nominees this time, so we do
not need a "waiting list" at this point. This may be necessary as our
group grows.
I don't anticipate any problem with the
wonderful ladies that have been nominated, but we do need to follow
procedure.
3. Elect our slate of officers:
President:
Martha Weeks
Secretary/Treasurer/
Historian: Geni Flowers
Member-at-large: ________nominate from the floor
4. Recipient
of 2020 dues:
a. The
membership will volunteer to serve or we will nominate 2 members to work with
the new Member-at-Large to recommend the charity that we will sponsor with our
dues collected at the January,2020 meeting.
b. You
will send the “Dues Selection Committee” your suggestion for the 2019 dues
money. (This committee will report to the group at the February of March
meeting.)
5. Please
bring any books by local authors
that you can share. I am collecting for an auction basket for the March 6, 2019
Beaufort County Library Foundation Fashion Show
(fundraiser) at Belfair. My auction basket last year was such a hit that
I will do it again. Thanks Thanks Thanks
***The books can be “gently used.”
6.
Welcome
the new officers.
I look forward to seeing everyone.
Stuart
Biographies for the potential new members were sent
earlier. Let me now if you need to see them again. I will have them at the
meeting.
