On 5/14/2019, Grace Cordial presented 'Postcards of Beaufort's Past'.
"I did a lot of postcard research two years ago preparing the Arnsberger Postcard collection for uploading into the Lowcountry Digital Library. That research provides the basis for my talk today.
The hand-outs include my source list, information about the Chicago Postcard database, and statistics about postcards going through the US Mail since 1926. Some of the postcards will have “This Place Matters” because the structure is on the National Register of Historic Places and May is National Historic Preservation Month.
My goal is to provide you with a bit of postcard history, describe some of the manufacturing processes used to create postcards through time and showcase a few items from the Beaufort District Collection in order to provide a peep into Beaufort’s past."
