The Sage Society
September Newsletter
· Our
next Sage Society meeting is on Tuesday,
September 11, 2018, at 4:00 in Room 124 of
the Sandstone Building (the OLLI Room) at USCB.
Come early to socialize!
· Nimmie
Huber will give her presentation: Washington, DC – Off the Beaten Path
· Melba Thomas
– Member -at-Large:
1. At
the meeting you will call for two volunteers to join you on the Nominating
Committee.
2. Your
committee will meet and determine the slate.
3. The
officers are: President, Secretary/Treasurer/Historian, and Member-at-Large.
Officers serve two-year terms.
4. You
will present the slate of officers to the membership at the October meeting.
5. After the slate is presented, I will send the
slate out (by email) to the membership and ask if there are any objections. *** If there are no objections, the slate
will meet with their counterpart to train and get notebooks before the January
meeting. The slate will be officially
voted on and installed at the January Annual Meeting and the new President
takes over then.
6. Members:
Please be prepared to volunteer to be on the Nominating Committee. Thank you!
7. Members:
Please be prepared to serve as an officer if asked. The
duties are “minimal” and the responsibilities are spelled out on a
monthly calendar. EASY! The club is designed to be “very low key!” 😊
· Everyone:
Please give Geni Flowers Bouquet, Secretary, names of potential new members at the October, November, and December
meetings. Include a brief biographical paragraph.
1. I
will share the nominations and bios with the membership before the January
meeting.
2. You
are encouraged to invite potential new
members to one or two meetings.
3. Let
the Secretary and President know who you will bring as a guest. Geni will
prepare a name tag for them.
4. All
potential new members will be put on a waiting list and voted on at the annual
meeting in January. The top “vote getters” will fill the open spots. The others
will remain on the waiting list.
5. We
have three openings now. Filling those vacancies will bring us up
to
our “total” of 21 members.
· Reminder
of topics to come:
October:
Carla Marsh TBD
November:
Carol Lauvray Reconstruction in
Beaufort
February: Jen Moneagle
TBD
March:
Grace Cordial TBD
April

· I
am attaching the April minutes. Please read and send any corrections to Geni.
We will approve the minutes before our speaker is presented.
· I
hope that everyone had a grand summer. I have missed seeing you.
