The Sage Society
Dear Sage Society Members,
Our Annual meeting will be at 4pm on January 10 will be at the home of Stuart Heath, 1607 Prince Street, Beaufort. We will have our important business meeting and then a time of getting to know each other with some simple refreshments.
This is my last newsletter as your president. I have enjoyed this role and loved meeting with you each month. The offices of President, Secretary and Member-at-Large rotate every two years so we are going to vote for new officers at our January meeting. Nominees are Grace Cordial for President, Sandi Atkins for Secretary and Jerry Stocks for Member-at-Large. Other nominations may be made from the floor.
As our bylaws states:
Article VI: Finances
Dues will be $25.00 per year, collected, in cash, at the January meeting. There is no need to establish a bank account.
The dues collected in January will be designated for a project voted on by the membership at the previous January meeting.
A representative of the Society will disperse the funds collected at the annual meeting within a week after our meeting. She will report to the membership that the donation has been delivered.
Please bring $25 in cash so we can collect, vote and then promptly disburse the money. As I mentioned in November I would like us to seriously consider funding Hopeful Horizons for at least another year, but a full discussion is most welcome.

Since these funds were collected for our 2022 charitable effort, I wrote a check for $153.05 to Hopeful Horizons in December and gave it to Erin Hall, the Director of Development, with the stipulation that it be spent on the children's room in the shelter. Erin thought they might use it to purchase more book cases and chairs.
I have also heard back from Tonya, the shelter director. They are ready for some of us to help them categorize and shelve the books. I am hoping that Barbara (or someone other than me!) will spearhead this effort. Tonya's phone number is 843-379-6159. I told her someone would call to schedule a time for us to come in which would probably be in January. Once we have a date then members can volunteer to assist.
